About the Project
Creative Core 02 is a musical and artistic collaboration between brothers Matthew and Mike Schommer. This is their second in an ongoing series where over many months, the two brothers worked together to develop a series of workflow therapeutics that reveal a genuine exposition of the creative engines that drive their work. With the newly devised artistic principles in hand, each returned to their respective craft to create two authentic artistic expressions that produce a single visual and auditory experience when combined. The result is a single 12" dubplate recording with accompanying artwork.

Mike Schommer (Music)
In the late 1990s, Mike Schommer co-founded the Deepchord record label (along with Rod Modell) in Detroit, Michigan. Mike & Rod are some of the earliest contributors to the genre of electronic music commonly referred to as "Dub Techno."
For almost 20 years, Mike has been experimenting within the genre, pushing its boundaries, and producing vinyl for labels throughout Europe.

Matthew Schommer (Artwork)
Through his artwork, Matthew aims to evoke a feeling of hazy nostalgia. To create an atmosphere reminiscent of elusive, lingering dreams. Iconic imagery and found photographs serve as a spring board for him to explore mankind's foggy past and uncertain future.
With watercolor and acrylic paints and layers upon layers of graphite, his work prompts the viewer to analyze the human condition and society at large.
Matthew's work is exhibited in galleries in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Miami. He currently lives and works in Chicago, IL
